Pre-Kindergarten – Kermits

Taught by degreed teachers, our pre-kindergarten program provides care, early childhood education, and kindergarten readiness for children ages 4 ½ years to 5 ½ years. Each of our teachers will plan and implement activities in their individual areas of expertise, working with the children in small groups to give them more specialized training.

At Play and Learn our pre-kindergartners explore a weekly theme and participate in a hands-on program that encourages physical, social/emotional, and cognitive growth and development while working to prepare children to enter kindergarten. Pre-kindergartners can independently choose from a variety of developmentally appropriate learning centers and are encouraged to work independently as well as in groups. Classroom activities are designed to build socialization, communication, and problem solving skills. Language arts, math, science, sensory art, and reading readiness are all a part of the pre-kindergarten program. Parents are kept informed of their child’s progress with Daily Reports and periodic parent conferences. A daily schedule, weekly lesson plan, and monthly calendar are posted on the Kermits’ and Grovers’ parent boards.

9:00 – 9:30 Calendar, weather, and group activity
9:30 – 10:30 Large muscle play (indoors or outdoors)
10:30 – 11:00 Circle time
11:00 – 12:00 Center play and art/sensory activities
P.M.
12:00 – 12:30 Lunch
12:30 – 1:30 Large muscle play, group games, and music movement
1:30 – 1:45 Bathroom break, story time, and prepare for nap
1:45 – 3:00 Nap/quiet time
3:00 – 3:45 Wake up, bathroom break, books and table top activities, and wash hands for snack
3:45 – 4:15 Snack
4:15 – 5:00 Large muscle play (indoors or outdoors)
5:00 – 5:30 Free play
5:30 – 6:00 Free play and departure
