Play & Learn Christian Child Care Center is a non-profit Christian child care center provided by Gethsemane Lutheran Church
committed to providing quality child care and early childhood education to infant, toddler, and preschool aged children.

History & Organization

Begun in 1980 by Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Play & Learn has been in operation for more than 25 years serving the children and families of north Columbus, Worthington, and surrounding communities. Child care services are provided for children ages 6 weeks to 10 years of age. Play & Learn is dedicated to serving families by providing a supportive and secure environment where children can play, learn, grow and develop and in which parents can have comfort and assurance knowing their children are nurtured and respected.

Play & Learn Christian Child Care is a privately owned and operated non-profit child day care center which is licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services pursuant to Chapter 5104 of the Ohio Revised Code. Play & Learn is an outreach ministry of and housed in Gethsemane Lutheran Church.

The Center Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Play & Learn and its staff. Play & Learn is overseen by Gethsemane Lutheran Church, and more specifically their Child Care Committee. The Child Care Committee is composed of several church members, two appointed parent representatives, and the Center Director. The Committee is responsible for the entire operation of the Center and meets once a month to discuss matters presented by the Director and to periodically review policies and procedures. The Committee approves the budget and is responsible for strategic goal setting and the long-term planning of the Center. Parents/Guardians may attend the Committee meetings at any time; however, the Committee chairperson should be contacted prior to the meeting.
